Our new Skills Bootcamps are already well underway, with 203 learners already starting their training across Berkshire. From Engineering to Sales, and Early Years to Construction, these individuals are committed to utilising Skills Bootcamps to develop new skills, progress in their careers and explore new opportunities.
Alongside this, all course delivery for the April 2025–2026 funding year has now been completed but programme delivery continues as our delivery partners are continuing to support learners into employment and progression opportunities. Of the 1,170 individuals who completed their training, an impressive 92% secured a job interview, or for self-employed learners, creating action plans to grow their businesses. The aim of Skills Bootcamps is to help learners move into positive outcomes within six months of completing their training, such as getting a new job, progressing in their current role, or gaining new clients or contracts if they are self-employed. We are incredibly proud that 61% of the learners who completed their Skills Bootcamp have already secured a new job, progressed at work, or created new business opportunities.
At Berkshire Skills Bootcamps, we know that everyone’s journey looks different, from your career goals to your experience level. Recent reports show that over 1 million 16-24 year olds in the UK are not currently in education, employment or training (NEET), so there has never been a more important time to invest in skills and opportunities. For those who may have struggled in school, are unsure about their next steps and trying to find a route into employment, Skills Bootcamps can provide a practical and supportive pathway.
During Wave 6, Skills Bootcamps supported 133 young people aged 19–24, with over a third identified as NEET. The impact of this support has been very positive, with 85% of these NEET young learners progressing to a job interview. Of those who secured interviews, almost a third then went on to gain employment within six months of completing their Skills Bootcamp.
But our support doesn’t stop there! Skills Bootcamps are for adults aged 19 and over, so whether you’re taking your first steps into the world of work at 19 or developing new skills later in life as you approach retirement, Skills Bootcamps can help you achieve your goals. During Wave 6, we supported learners ranging in age from 19 to 66, with an average age of 39, illustrating just how versatile Skills Bootcamps can be for people at all stages of their careers.
