GreenCollar
GreenCollar is a Slough-based startup, founded in 2026, that helps the private rented sector get to EPC C by 2030. It also gives councils and installers the data to deliver that work.
The problem Around 30% of privately rented homes in Slough are rated D or below. From 2030, private rented homes are expected to need an EPC rating of C or above, unless an exemption is registered. Three groups struggle with this:
- Letting agents manage hundreds of properties in spreadsheets, with no clear view of which homes will fail, what it will cost or which grants apply.
- Landlords don’t know what to do or what they will pay.
- Councils and installers can’t see where demand is, or whether there are enough qualified installers locally.
What we do GreenCollar is one platform with three connected workspaces:
- Letting agents sync their portfolio from Reapit, Alto or Street. Each property is matched to its official EPC record. GreenCollar tracks lettings compliance and licensing, and builds a costed 2030 upgrade plan for each home. The plan checks the £10,000 cost cap and exemptions, and shows the cost after grants such as the Boiler Upgrade Scheme and Warm Homes: Local Grant. Landlords approve the work through a secure, branded portal.
- Retrofit providers get verified against the MCS and TrustMark registers. They then receive landlord-approved jobs in the postcodes they cover, quote, and upload certificates when the work is complete.
- Councils see the borough’s EPC picture by street and district, with the MCS-certified installers in their area.
Business model
- Agencies pay a monthly subscription: Solo £15, Branch £25 and Multi-branch £50 per month, excluding VAT.
- Installers pay a success fee of [5]% on completed jobs, part of which goes to the referring agent.
- Councils pay for data and pilot packages.
