The REPF Business Grants West Berkshire scheme offers capital funding to small rural businesses through the Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF), supported by DEFRA. This initiative forms part of the UK Government’s Levelling Up Campaign, which aims to create equal opportunities across the country by investing in local economies.

What Is the REPF Business Grant Scheme?

The REPF scheme supports capital projects that improve productivity and strengthen rural communities. It aligns with the Levelling Up White Paper and the Future Farming Programme, focusing on business growth and community infrastructure.

Who Can Apply?

Eligible applicants must:

  • Be a small or micro business operating in West Berkshire
  • Have fewer than 50 full-time equivalent employees
  • Be located in a rural designated area
  • Have been trading since before January 2022
  • Comply with UK subsidy control rules
  • Not have received funding from other DEFRA schemes

What Funding Is Available?

Businesses can apply for fixed grants of £20,000 or £14,681.50, with a total of £109,363 available across six grants. Applicants must start their projects within three months of receiving the grant.

Examples of Eligible Projects

  • Equestrian and animal-related diversification (e.g. kennels, livery, pet health services)
  • Farm diversification (e.g. glamping sites to support rural tourism)

  • A detailed cost breakdown
  • Evidence of project readiness
