Domestic Energy Assessment

The Domestic Energy Assessment Skills Bootcamp is a flexible, 8-day training programme delivered over a 16-week period, allowing you to upskill at a pace that fits around your existing work and commitments.

Designed for those looking to enter or progress within the energy and construction sectors, this bootcamp equips learners with the knowledge and practical skills required to support energy efficiency improvement projects in domestic buildings.

Qualifications included:

  • ABBE Level 3 Certificate in Domestic Energy Assessment (Accredited)

What you will learn:

  • How to collect and analyse property data
  • Understanding building structures, property types, and construction methods
  • Using RdSAP software to assess existing properties and produce Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs)
  • Knowledge of building regulations, property ages, and construction variations

Learners will also develop practical skills in measuring properties and drawing floor plans, assessing conservatories, flats, and different roof types, including loft conversions and much more.

This Skills Bootcamp provides a comprehensive pathway into the growing energy efficiency sector, combining technical knowledge with real-world experience to prepare you for a career as a Domestic Energy Assessor.

Ventilation Systems

The Ventilation Systems Skills Bootcamp is designed for professionals already working within the building services sector who hold a minimum of NVQ Level 2 in their chosen trade. This programme covers both domestic and commercial ventilation systems and is ideal for those involved in the installation, servicing, and maintenance of ventilation systems. It equips learners with the skills needed to assess ventilation requirements and carry out design, installation, testing, commissioning, handover, servicing, and fault-finding in line with National Occupational Standards. Developed in collaboration with the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (CIPHE) and leading global manufacturers of commercial air handling units and ventilation systems, this bootcamp is designed to help engineers broaden their expertise and meet compliance with Part F and Part F2 Building Regulations.

Participants will gain 40 CPD points, support ongoing professional development and enhance occupational competence. The course focuses on both the ‘air’ and ‘wet’ sides of ventilation systems, while excluding refrigerant-based works such as chillers and heat pumps. 

This Skills Bootcamps provides a comprehensive pathway to upskilling in ventilation and HVAC systems, helping experienced engineers expand their capabilities, meet regulatory standards, and deliver safe, efficient, and compliant systems across domestic and commercial environments.

Low Temperature Heating

This specialist renewable heating programme combines four industry-recognised qualifications, giving you a structured and practical pathway into low-carbon heating technologies. Designed for qualified plumbers and heating engineers, the training develops the technical knowledge and hands-on skills needed to design, install, commission, maintain and troubleshoot modern renewable heating systems while working towards the competence requirements associated with MCS-certified heat pump installations. 

You’ll begin with Water Regulations and Byelaws, building a clear understanding of the legal and regulatory requirements that govern water system installations. You’ll learn how to prevent contamination, apply backflow protection measures, and ensure plumbing and heating systems comply with current regulations and installation standards. 

The programme then moves into Air Source Heat Pump Systems Installation and Maintenance (Non-Refrigerant Circuits), where you’ll develop practical expertise in the design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of air source heat pump systems. You’ll gain a solid understanding of hydronic circuits, system components, operating principles and efficiency considerations, enabling you to confidently work on the water-side elements of heat pump installations. 

Building on this, the Low Temperature Heating and Hot Water Systems in Dwellings course explores the principles behind heating systems specifically designed for renewable technologies. You’ll learn how to carry out heat loss calculations, select suitable heat emitters, design efficient hot water systems and ensure compatibility between low-temperature heating systems and modern domestic properties. 

The final element focuses on Warm Water Underfloor Heating Systems, covering the design, installation and commissioning of one of the most common heat distribution methods used alongside heat pumps. You’ll learn how to design pipe layouts, balance systems, configure controls and integrate underfloor heating with wider heating and hot water systems to achieve efficient and reliable performance. 

Throughout the programme, the emphasis is on practical application. Rather than learning systems in isolation, you’ll develop an understanding of how renewable heating technologies work together within a complete domestic installation. By the end of the training, you’ll have the confidence to work with air source heat pumps, low-temperature heating systems, hydronic circuits and underfloor heating solutions in real-world environments. 

This programme is particularly suited to qualified plumbers and heating engineers looking to upskill, diversify their services and develop specialist expertise in renewable and low-carbon heating technologies. It provides a practical route into one of the fastest-growing areas of the heating industry while helping learners prepare for the increasing demand for heat pump and energy-efficient heating installations.
