Berkshire Skills Bootcamps Case Study: Professional Certification in Data Analytics & AI

March 9, 2026
Discover how Gareth Sephton of Response24 enhanced data-driven decision making through a Berkshire Skills Bootcamp with Code Institute’s Professional Certification in Data Analytics & AI.
When Gareth Sephton, Director of Operations at Response24, considered how his organisation was using data day to day, he saw both opportunity and limitations. Like many leaders in 2025, he was surrounded by vast volumes of information. Response24 tracks global risk events, generating an enormous amount of real time data, yet Gareth felt that much more could be done with it. He already had some analytical experience, but he knew that deeper technical skills would allow him to uncover patterns, identify trends and build more efficient systems within the business.

After researching into different options, Gareth enrolled onto Code Institute’s Professional Certification in Data Analytics & AI. He knew he wanted to strengthen his working knowledge of Python and Power BI, and knew that building practical, applied data skills would allow him to make better use of the intelligence Response24 collected. For Gareth the training wasn’t just theoretical, he needed tools he could use immediately in a fast-paced operational environment.

As Gareth progressed through the programme, he found that the structure was well suited to someone in a senior, demanding role, particularly noting how beneficial the masterclasses were for improving his Python skills. He didn’t just absorb the material; he began applying it straight away to build new internal platforms to streamline his workflow. Each concept covered in the course mapped directly onto challenges he was seeing in his day to day decision-making.

[The Skills Bootcamp contained a] good mix of methods and engagement.

What Gareth valued just as much as the technical elements was the interaction with peers across different industries. He explained how hearing how other professionals were handling, structuring and analysing their data gave him a broader perspective on what was possible. Seeing different approaches helped him refine his own and reinforced how central effective data practices have become for modern organisations.

The Skills Bootcamps programme itself covered the tools Gareth needed to work with data on a deeper level. Through Python libraries like NumPy and Pandas, he learned how to handle datasets far larger and more complex than those manageable in traditional spreadsheets. SQL training provided the foundations for managing and querying databases efficiently which is something he now uses when working with global risk information.

The Power BI sessions focused on building clear, interactive dashboards, enabling him to communicate insights quickly to stakeholders who may not be familiar with technical detail. Each component of the course was delivered with practical application at its core, and Gareth’s experience reflects that. As he put the learning into practice, he developed a web server and tools that support operational efficiency inside Response24 demonstrating exactly how the programme empowers professionals to translate data theory into meaningful business improvements.

Gareth’s journey shows how upskilling at leadership level can directly benefit organisations. For him, the training offered not only new capabilities but a way to reshape how Response24 understands and reacts to the complex data it handles every day.
