Berkshire LEP appoints Martine Baker as Director of Business Development. With 25+ years' leadership experience, she'll drive economic growth, business engagement and innovation across the region.

Berkshire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) has announced the appointment of Martine Baker as its new Director of Business Development. Martine brings with her over 25 years’ experience as a senior leader, working strategically across a range of organisations including colleges, charities and the public sector.

Her appointment marks a new chapter for Berkshire LEP as it strengthens its commitment to driving economic growth in the region.

Martine Baker says: “I am passionate about the work of LEP’s as well as wider economic development and skills and I am eager to bring my skills and experience to Berkshire LEP and contribute to our shared goals.”

Martine’s appointment comes at a pivotal time as Berkshire continues to navigate the challenges and opportunities presented by the changing economic landscape. Her leadership is expected to play a critical role in enhancing business engagement, supporting regional industries, supporting the development of workforce skills and talent and promoting innovation across key sectors.

In her first pronouncement as Director of Business Development, Martine Baker expressed her enthusiasm for the role and her vision for the region’s future: “I look forward to collaborating with each of you to drive forward the economic growth and prosperity of the Berkshire area. Together, I believe that we can achieve great things and make a significant impact.”

Martine’s expertise in fostering partnerships between private and public sectors will enhance the LEP’s ability to bring together key stakeholders and partners. By aligning the needs of local businesses with regional strategies, she aims to create a more cohesive approach to growth and sustainability.

Chief Executive of Berkshire LEP, Alison Webster, alongside the wider team, has voiced strong support for Martine’s appointment, highlighting her proven track record of delivering results in competitive and fast-moving business environments: “Martine, a collaborative leader, is known for her relationship-driven yet commercial approach and her commitment to delivery. She has a track record of achieving growth, evidenced by a 20-staff increase at a previous training provider role, and has the experience and assurance to tackle tough challenges and make effective decisions. We are all very much looking forward to her joining our team.”

Martine’s focus will be on expanding the reach of the LEP’s activity, attracting new investment to Berkshire, and ensuring that businesses across the region have access to the tools and resources needed to thrive.
